An immersive documentary about the memories trapped inside a cave
Written and Directed by Rafael Pavon Produced by Overlat, Morena Films & World Monuments Fund (2020)
Immersive journey through 16,000 years of human history, bringing the prehistoric stories of La Garma cave to life.
This project merges cutting-edge technology with prehistoric art, allowing audiences to explore three meticulously captured spaces within the UNESCO World Heritage site. Using laser scanners and photogrammetry, we recreated La Garma’s chambers with millimetric precision, delivering an unparalleled level of immersion.
Guided by the voice of Geraldine Chaplin, visitors unlock the cave’s memories — encountering Paleolithic hunters, and even a cave lion in its final resting place. The experience showcases the site’s archaeological significance while fostering a deeper emotional connection to our ancestors.
Since its debut at the Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria, Memoria has drawn full houses, breathing new life into the museum and proving how immersive storytelling can make inaccessible heritage sites accessible to all.
