An immersive documentary about the memories trapped inside a cave

Written and Directed by Rafael Pavon
Produced by Overlat, Morena Films & World Monuments Fund (2020)

A time-travelling odyssey through 16,000 years of human history, “Memoria” invites you to step into the hidden wonders of La Garma cave, where ancient stories come alive in breathtaking virtual reality.

This groundbreaking project merges cutting-edge technology with prehistoric art, allowing audiences to explore three meticulously captured spaces within the UNESCO World Heritage site. Using laser scanners and photogrammetry, we recreated La Garma’s chambers with millimetric precision, ensuring an unparalleled level of immersion.

Guided by Geraldine Chaplin’s mesmerising narration, visitors unlock the cave’s memories, encountering Paleolithic hunters, a mother and child, and even a cave lion in its final resting place. The experience not only showcases the site’s archaeological significance but also sparks a profound emotional connection to our ancestors, making you feel part of their story.

Since its debut at the Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria, “Memoria” has captivated audiences, consistently drawing full houses and breathing new life into the museum. This success demonstrates the power of immersive storytelling to make inaccessible heritage sites accessible, fostering a deeper appreciation for our shared human history.
